Privacy Policy
This is a plain-language privacy policy. We tried to write the kind we’d want written for us — short, specific, and honest about what happens to your data.
The short version
- We use AI (Anthropic’s Claude) to read your forwarded school emails and pull out the important parts.
- We don’t train AI on your data. Your emails aren’t used to improve any AI model.
- Once we’ve processed an email, we delete it. We keep the tasks, dates, and summaries we extracted. The original goes away.
- We share data only with the services that actually run Schoolcase: payments (Stripe), email sending (Postmark), and AI processing (Anthropic).
- We don’t sell your data. We never will.
What we collect
When you sign up:
- Your email address
- A username, which becomes your private @schoolcase.app address
- Your first name, during onboarding
- Information you add about your family — kids’ first names, classes, and activities
When you use Schoolcase:
- School emails you forward to your @schoolcase.app address
- Tasks, dates, and summaries we extract from those emails
- Basic logs — access times, error info — for keeping the service running
How we use it
We process forwarded school emails to build your dashboard, calendar feed, and daily digest. That processing happens through Anthropic’s Claude API.
The full text of your forwarded emails is sent to Anthropic for processing, then deleted from our side. Anthropic does not use API data to train models — that’s a contractual commitment under their API terms.
We use your email address to:
- Send you the welcome email, daily digest, and notifications
- Send password resets when you ask for them
- Reach you about your account if we need to
What we don’t do
- We don’t train any AI model on your data
- We don’t sell or rent your data to anyone
- We don’t show ads
- We don’t track you across the web
Who we share with
- Anthropic — processes the contents of your forwarded emails. Their privacy practices and their commitment not to train on API data are at anthropic.com/privacy.
- Stripe — handles payments. They see your billing info; we don’t.
- Postmark — sends emails on our behalf (welcome, digest, password reset). They see the email recipient and content of those emails.
That’s it. No other sharing.
How long we keep things
- Your account data — until you delete your account.
- Forwarded emails — deleted after we extract tasks and summaries from them. Usually within minutes.
- Tasks, dates, summaries — we keep these as long as your account is active.
- Logs — rotated and deleted within 30 days.
Your rights
You can:
- See what we have about you (just email us)
- Correct anything that’s wrong
- Delete your account and everything associated with it
- Export your data
